Namaste
I am Carolina, curious by nature and passionate about people. I like to enjoy life and always learn. Stubborn if I'm right (or I think I am) and with an outrageous laugh.
When did you feel the "Call of India"?
Well, I think that more than a call it was a roar thanks to meeting again with a good friend (precisely the one who is doing this interview with me) who gave me the bug at a very special and spiritual moment for me.
What was the main reason that made you choose India as a destination?
It seemed to me a special country, with mixtures, with happy people, with tradition, colors and with many possibilities to live something different. I was already meditating and practicing yoga...
Your favorite place in India
The Taj Mahal and Red Fort in Agra.
Any experience that you will thoroughly enjoy?
The Tuk Tuk ride because it is a marvel to see everything from there and the expertise of the drivers. And I do not remember the area where we went before the elephant care park where there were streets leading to the river and monkeys jumping everywhere. Not to miss the silk painting workshop or the dances with puppets that we enjoyed.
What did you like most about your trip?
The private photo session we had at the Taj Mahal and the visit to the Red Fort with typical dress and converse on our feet that made the locals laugh at the sight of us. I felt like a princess for a day.
What about what you didn't like so much?
Have to go back hahaha. Well and a cashier swallowed a credit card if we have to look for any grey notes from my trip.....
Your biggest learning experience on the trip?
That you don't need a lot of things to be happy, just live and let things happen.
What has been "India's Footprint on You"?
I still have many things that allow me to remember that trip and the spices in my kitchen are not lacking.
What impact has that "footprint" had on your day-to-day life upon your return from the trip?
More humility and more enjoyment, we make life complicated for ourselves...
Has your experience had any impact on your profession?
I work in management and people management in luxury hotels and I am a psychologist in my own brand, Decorpas. My slogan is "What if what you set out to do happens" and I often use stories in my practice to help me with metaphors from my trip to India.
Describe India in 3 words
Lively, colorful, spiritual.
What would you have liked to know before your trip?
Nothing else, I like adventure and letting myself be surprised.
Would you travel to India again?
When do you say (it seems that Carolina is more than determined to return)?
What would you like to experience on your next trip to India?
I would love to do a Bollywood workshop and an initiation to Tantra.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to travel to India?
Open your mind and enjoy.
And what would you say to a person who has not felt the desire to visit India (to motivate them to do so)?
I would send him to talk to Ganesha.
Any anecdotes or stories you would like to share?
In Jaipur we spent 1 hour talking with a bookseller about the Kamasutra. It was a great moment to remember and a lot of laughs.
What are the must-haves in your suitcase for your trip to India?
A pair of white converse (they ended up colored thanks to the Holi).
I hope you have enjoyed this travel interview getting to know Carolina's story in India and inspire you to discover this country that has so much to offer.
